Parents Are Teachers, Too

Much of What Children Learn About Themselves They Learn From You

We know that what we say to our children matters, but what we do matters just as much or even more.

Parents are teachers? You bet! No, most of us don't plan lessons, give tests or assign grades but largely by example, we teach our children about money, self-respect, relationships, charity, compassion, managing responsibilities and a host of other life lessons.

No matter what we say, our children learn what we think, what is important to us and what we value by watching what we do.

What do your actions say about you?

How closely does what you say mirror what you do?

Most of us could probably close a gap or two, but that's okay...parents are people and as such we are works in progress. If you're doing something that you don't feel good about find the support you need to begin releasing the habit.

Our children don't expect us to be perfect (thank goodness!), but they should be able to count on a certain level of trustworthiness and integrity.

Remember...where you lead, they will follow. Don't map out your course and then walk off in another direction, someone might get lost.
